Round Music (and required viewing to get the title reference) "TENTACLES!" from Shoggoth on the Roof (yes, it's a Lovecraft themed parody of Fiddler on the Roof, and yes, it's hilarious)

Writeup

Turning Haumea evil (particularly her first incarnation) probably wouldn't be that difficult. All that Chaos really would need to do was take the form of somebody who'd be thought to be from the moon and kill a couple of her kids. Add in some resentment over her (prison guard) senshi duties, the fear that she was reinforcing the idea that humanoids were superior, and an ever mischievous Sailor Eris, and you have the mix for one bonafide roaring rampage of revenge a few hundred years earlier than the actual destruction of the Silver Millennium.

Being a benevolently-minded shapeshifter, Haumea normally would take a form of something that her audience was most comfortable with. However, to one more malevolently bent, naturally being a grotesque amorphous blob of lord-knows-what would be quite the advantage. Enemies are far easier to fight when they are dealing with sanity-reducing terror.

She adapts a few human-like elements, such as eyes and hair, to a thing truly horrific, generating them in places you really don't want to see them. Her fuku changes don't occur so much due to newfound darkness as it changes due to clothing physics. Seams intended for a human build generally don't hold up well when the subject no longer takes that shape; frankly, it's a miracle her collar even remains.

In spite of the form change and evil goals, she's still Haumea. Technically, her name is still the same, just that since she's not speaking any tongue known to man, nobody knows exactly what she calls herself. Mostly, they just assume she's a brainless monster screeching battle cries. Her powers don't actually change either; she just has to get creative since healing and support powers generally don't mesh with "roaring rampage of revenge." She tends to rely more on the advantages of her race as a result, generating whatever body part deemed most beneficial to her action at that time. And it's not that she doesn't user her powers - protecting yourself from those certifiably insane (er...brave) enough to face her is just good sense.

WHY BLACK AND WHITE?
I did think about this artistically. Please read before commenting on the lack of color.
:bulletwhite: First and foremost, color takes away from the effort put into the stippling. This is an ink piece, and I'm sticking with ink, even if b/w art is not as accepted in this community. When the shading is done with black and white only, adding color tends to look like an afterthought.
:bulletwhite: It's a huge shoutout (homage) to H.P. Lovecraft and specifically one of his numerous unearthly monstrosities, the Shoggoth Shoggoths, like many Lovecraftian creations, have a lot of things about them not understood by human minds. Inhuman colors is one of those. Also, a lot of things are left to imagination, and black and white lends some sort of imagination to the viewer.
:bulletwhite: The old school horror movie vibe. Gotta love it.

Other Notes
I think I've been playing a few too many Call of Cthulu type boardgames, really (Arkham Horror, how I love thee). I made the shoggoth joke when coming up with Haumea's backstory and figured out how I wanted to incorporate the shapeshifter part of the myth. My husband thought the idea was hilarious and it just got worse with two of us. Especially given that the Animamate round is in two rounds, this was an excuse to do something completely different. And figuring out how to turn something completely not human into a senshi was just fun.

Yes, I put thought and effort into developing this idea, it's not just some twisted joke. I like to play with a lot of concepts, and part of Haumea's whole shapeshifter thing (shoggoth or not) is the whole measure of humanity. "Evil aligned" she's not a completely different monster, even though she looks like one. She's just willing to take measures that her concern for humans prevented her from doing. Her anger against humanity does not change the fact that it was a corrupted version of her care for her fellow non-humanoids. As such, I didn't make huge "changes" to her fuku, allowing the destruction of it to happen more naturally, and I kept her powers and the like very similar.

Yes, the terrified people are supposed to be reminiscent of Luna and Artemis. I wanted recognizable as Moon Residents, but not a senshi.
