Sailor Nudity Contest -- CLOSED!

EDIT 9/2/10:  Contest is now CLOSED!  We got in a lot later than was originally planned.  Our anniversary was great though.  Yay, two years!

As many Sailor Moon fans will tell you, artistic nudity is often employed in a portrayal of romance and purity in the series and manga.  However, recent DA policy changes and stricter enforcement has made this difficult, even if the art in question is completely tasteful.

So, here is your challenge:  Find a way to treat nudity within Sailor Moon that will not be removed.  To be clear:  This contest is NOT about questioning the policy, it is about expressing your creativity within it.

How exactly you use nudity is up to you!  Find some theme (or characterization) you like from the show and run with it!


RULES REGARDING POLICY

1.  Said art must feature one or more characters from Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon naked or mostly so.  Catch is, this must follow policy without any question, so said character must be portrayed as no younger than 18 during the course of the show (flashbacks excepting).  The character can be from any Sailor Moon canon--anime, manga, myu, PGSM, etc.

Valid characters include, but not limited to:
Sailor Pluto/Meioh Setsuna (established as college freshman when introduced)
Tuxedo Kamen/Chiba Mamoru (18 at beginning of show)
Kakyuu (treated as adult, played older actresses in the myu)
Human form Luna and Artemis (treated as adults)
Beryl, Esmeraude, Kaorinite, Nehellenia, Galaxia, older minions, etc.

Characters who are depicted as high school students or younger (most of the senshi, the witches 5, Amazoness quartet, etc.) are clearly off limits.  Similarly, although questionable, Mistress 9 and Black Lady should not be drawn as they are, body-wise, aged versions of Hotaru and ChibiUsa.  Same for Neo Queen Serenity.  While I won't outlaw them, I am recommending against Queen Serenity and Sailor Cosmos as apparently their similarity in hairstyle to Sailor Moon means dA can't tell them apart.  See comments.deviantart.com/5/3183…;

There is some room for making judgment calls with these rules, as there are numerous characters whose ages could be called into question.  I trust entrants to make their own judgment regarding this.  If in doubt, don't.

Policies in question:  FAQ # 248 and FAQ #249

2.  DA policy MUST be followed.  This means no pornographic content.  See DA FAQ #565.

3.  All entries must have a mature tag prior to submission.

4.  The image must be posted after the date the contest is posted:  Decided day to have it all figured out -- May 1, 2010.

5.  The contest will end at Midnight Pacific Standard Time, August 31, 2010.  This is mostly due to my own real life and emotional issues.

6.  Your age is not an issue, so if you're under 18, you are still free to enter!

7.  To prevent confusion, please submit entries in a note.

8.  One entry per person, but there will be an exhibition category to feature drawings for the contest ineligible for judging.  This category will include any drawings done by the judges and additional drawings done by entrants.  If you do more than one image, note me with which one you want to be judged, and I'll put all entries in the appropriate category.


RULES REGARDING THEME

9.  Photo manipulations and dolls are allowed with proper credit and permissions are allowed.  No coloring book edits, sorry.  If using these, be sure to modify them sufficiently to be judged as your own artwork.

10.  Similarly, cosplay photography is allowed with proper permissions; if this is done, the subject being photographed MUST be over 18.

11.  In the case of romantic pairs, the couple does not have to be canon.

12.  Entries should be somewhat tasteful.  Sensual is fine, but try to keep consistent with the themes of Sailor Moon.

13.  Please make use of the artists' comments.  It makes it easier for the judges and helps show how much thought was put into the piece.

ON JUDGMENT CALLS
I mean what I said when I said that I trust entrants to make their own judgment calls.  I don't want to make a list of every single character that's eligible or not, as there are a LOT of characters in this show.  Part of the challenge in this is thinking for yourself, and if you can come up with a good reason according to policy for why you think this character should be accepted, go ahead.  This is an adult-themed contest, babying everybody is not the point.

Just use the artists comments to explain why you chose who you did.

Keep in mind: while I'm pretty easy to please, dA may not be.  While I encourage thinking for yourself and determining what following policy means for yourself, I can't promise that some trigger-happy mod won't delete your entry.

Key point:  This contest is about having fun with the policy, not getting hung up on it.  You are allowed to think for yourself!

Judging will be done by a panel of 3 judges consisting of myself (Enkai), silver-eyes-blue and SarahForde.  If there are a large enough number of entries, I may ask more judges to help out.

Feature 4!


LuchiIsa -- I discovered this artist through a feature journal of Tsuzukikun, and I'm glad I did!  The level of detail in her drawings makes a self-professed detail whore like myself a very, very happy person!  I'm also amazed at how she can get such minute detail with traditional media; she's definitely got skill with copics!  Her gallery is COLORFUL!  Near every picture is characterized by bright colors and backgrounds.  It made choosing four pieces very difficult!



If you have a suggestion for this feature box, let me know!  My only guideline is that the artist must have less than a 5000 pageview/year average--I'm trying to get unknown artists known!
